Smart Design Meets Natural Beauty on a Challenging Site
Smart Design Meets Natural Beauty on a Challenging Site
Perched on an elevated site affectionately known as “the wedge of cheese”, this unique home presented both challenge and charm during its construction. With limited access, clever planning and precise execution transformed this tricky plot into a striking modern family Bach, simple in form but full of character. The exterior blends low-maintenance, naturally stained Shadowclad with stack-bonded blockwork, creating a bold yet understated aesthetic.
A blonded pine pergola rises proudly over the front deck, anchoring the home in its surroundings. Inside, a calming natural palette complements the intriguing angles and generous glazing, which flood the interiors with light. A freestanding bath, floor-to-ceiling tiled bathrooms, and excellent storage offer both style and practicality. With 80mm of polystyrene beneath the floor, the home stays warm and energy-efficient. The double garage, lined with robust ply to both walls and ceilings, adds a hard-wearing, functional space to this thoughtfully executed build.
